HISTORY

The Giswater Association was formally born in February 2014 as result of the collaboration of various professionals that joined to develop an informatic open source tool for the integral water cycle management. Since then, the Giswater Association has grown in terms of members, outreach and promotional activities of this platform.

MISSION

The Giswater Association is legally constituted as a non-profit association in accordance with the establishments of the Organic law 1/2002 of March. Its goals are:

  • Spread open source software values which are applied to engineering and water cycle management
  • Develop, promote and universalize the Giswater use
  • Contribute to knowledge research and development related to the integral water cycle management area, hydraulic networks, urban and fluvial hydrology or flood risks management
  • Become an international reference in those fields on the basis of its projects and initiatives

FRAMEWORK

The Giswater Association is composed and governed by its associates. The General Assembly of Members is the highest executive decision-making body that meets, at least, once per year. Among the responsabilities of the Assembly are:

  • Approve the accounts and budget if there is any
  • Decide the destination of the available funds
  • Approve internal rules and norms
  • Choose the members of the executive board

TECHNICAL COMMISSION 

The technical commission will be a working group of the Association that will have a coordinator with direct connection to the Board and that would have among other functions:

  • Mark the technological roadmap of development, new functionalities or regulatory complements, both short, medium or long term
  • Define joint strategies to improve the consumption of cartography and baselines
  • Define a technology surveillance program
  • Establish a framework for a reference training plan
  • Manage a calendar proposal for conferences, workshops and other actions deemed appropriate with an annual vision
  • Other topics that you consider interesting
  • The same will have autonomy of work with respect to the Board and will raise to it the actions, alliances or conclusions of what is agreed for its approval

  • The annual fee for individuals is € 50
  • The annual fee for organization is € 45
