I think, we will give it a try. Thank you also for the link to the Webinars, unfortunately I personally cannot join next week, but a colleague will do so. Once we start the journey, we will definitely have additional questions, but we may become GISWATER experts too and contribute to its further proliferation.

I do have one question right now: Did you already try to make use of QField in combination with a GISWATER project? At a first stage, we do not plan to use QField for editing spatial data, but the rich attribute data should at least be accessible in the field.

Best regards to you.

Ralph

Hello Ralph,

Fist of all, I would like to thank you for participating in this forum. As you can see, we don’t have a lot of activity, but we try to stay in touch with the community as much as possible.

Is there a demo project I can install (after having installed PostGres/PostGis/QGis)?

Yes. Giswater comes with a built-in sample where you can get familiar with the different tools. It is possible to create an inventory only project, or a full example that is ready to export to a hydraulic model.

To answer to the rest of your questions:

You can contact the giswater association for consultancy services here (https://www.giswater.org/contact/?lang=en) , or send a mail to info@giswater.org.

There are webinars and courses published in YouTube, but most of them are outdated (using older versions of the plug-in). The manual and the DBmodel wiki are the main sources of documentation as of right now.

You can find additional information and insights in the Giswater LinkedIn (https://es.linkedin.com/company/giswater) or the BGEO LinkedIn (https://es.linkedin.com/company/bgeoopengissl)

The platform Geoinnova offers many Giswater courses, including EPANET integration, asset management and corporate environment. There is also the option to do a full specialization course of water supply or urban drainage, including all the aforementioned contents and more. Starting this year, the courses will also be offered in English. You can find more information here: Violeta Azuara Checa Cursos de Giswater - Geoinnova

Last but not least, I would like to invite you to the free webinars taking place this February, where we will give a brief introduction to Asset Manage, Giswater and IberGIS: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdS_6Svlx-r12oo6fxeCZ3jzylWwq4ZfdvqcroMjmo1HIvYYA/viewform?usp=sharing&ouid=107051687988959409680

From BGEO, we are always open to help those who are interested in Giswater, as we realize that deploying and implementing this software is a very demanding and complex process that can lead to many accumulative errors if not done properly. With that said, the final goal would be for you to gain autonomy, so our approach is usually more of a support role. If you have any further questions you would like to ask, feel free to contact me by e-mail at dcano@bgeo.es

Dear community.

We are asked to elaborate a GIS-based asset management system for two municipalities in Ukraine. The system should be open-source based, should integrate EPANET, should be a multi-user in-house installation and should also provide a mobile solution for field workers to update attribute data (not necessarily the spatial data) - preferably with synchronization by WLAN (for security reasons no Web Server).

By chance (or luckily) I came across GISWATER, which seems to provide all these functionalities (for the mobile I'm not sure). We planned to use PostGres/PostGIS and develop our own QGIS plugins, we planned to integrate QField (but for security reasons no QFieldCloud). Now, GISWater seems to come with a strong data model and QGIS Plugin that already provide the above mentioned tools to meet the requirements.

So I decided to investigate a little bit on Pros and Cons of using GISWater. While +3.000 downloads from 140 countries look convincing, the Forum seems to be not very active...latest post seven months old and still no answer?
- Is there a demo project I can install (after having installed PostGres/PostGis/QGis)?
- Can anyone guide me to documents/pages that provide information on the integration of mobile devices?
- Is there additional documentation available in addition to what I can find on this page (I've seen the quick start videos, the tutorials, the manual)?
- In case of problems, is there also consultancy to book?

Thanks in advance, and best regards,

Ralph

I am programming an unsteady flow program for simulation transients in water supplying networks. I would like to obtain the source code of the functions for reading "*.inp" and writing "*.rpt" files that GISWATER uses when it imports and exports results from EPANET; for incorporating them into my software.

Could someone tell me where I can find the aforementioned function source-codes?
